Harnessing the power of professional networks can enhance quality improvement (QI) healthcare practice, staff retention, and network growth. This session from September 2025 is delivered by Martin Hogan, who shares his experiences through examples from nursing and midwifery.
Teamwork, leadership and collaboration: facilitating improvement in South London perinatal services
In October 2025, Health Innovation Network South London shared how its tackling complex challenges in maternity and neonatal care. The workshop aligned with the Maternity and Neonatal Safety Improvement Programme (MatNeoSIP) and focused on the relational aspects of delivering safety improvement work.
Delivering change in the system: supporting those who face inequalities
One of the biggest challenges for maternity, perinatal, and neonatal services is supporting the groups of people who face health inequalities to access these vital services. Doulas Without Borders and Bliss joined us in November 2025 to share their journeys. In the session they covered designs that delivered routes to impact, insights, challenges they’ve faced, methodologies they use and how they overcame knotty processes.
Implementing and adopting change
In June 2025 we were joined by speakers from Birmingham Women’s Hospital and the University of Birmingham, who shared their story of adoption, scale and spread. Together, they co-developed a system to ensure triage by clinical need resulting in safer better care for women and birthing people and their babies.

Black Maternity Matters delivers safer maternity care for Black mothers
A collaboration between Health Innovation West of England, Black Mothers Matter, BCohCo and Representation Matters, the Black Maternity Matters pilot project was set up to support maternity staff and explore how to improve the quality of maternity care for Black mothers.

Bliss champions the rights of every baby born premature or sick in the UK to receive the best best chance of survival and quality of life. They support families, campaign for change, support professionals, and enable life-changing research. They shared the following resources:
