Q is free to join and welcomes people with experience in improvement, change and transformation from all backgrounds and settings. Members benefit from the wide range of opportunities available.
Why join Q?
As a member of the Q community, you can enjoy flexible and free access to our range of activities and support to help you create real change. Whatever time you have available the Q community is always here for you to draw on.
Members say the benefits of joining the Q community are wide-ranging:
- Participate in a wide range of events throughout the year online and in person, including webinars and networking opportunities.
- Expand your network and connect with people working on shared challenges and opportunities across health and care.
- Access an ever-expanding library of improvement insight, inspiration and practical tools.
- Develop your improvement skills and knowledge.
- Solve problems collaboratively by tapping into the Q community, sharing and learning about members’ improvement experience together.

Is Q right for me?
For the core criteria of Q membership and to proceed with your membership form, you’ll need to answer yes to questions to confirm that:
- You are based in the UK or Ireland,
- You are working within or interested in improvement, transformation and change
- You understand some of the structured approaches to enable improvement, change and/or transformation.
Q is a good fit if you if:
- You have some improvement, transformation and change experience
- You are keen to work with others to raise the quality of health and care.
You may have:
- An understanding of some structured approaches to improvement and/or transformation, from personal or professional experience.
- Played a role in the design, leadership, delivery or support of improvement efforts in health and care.
- Led or delivered change or transformation projects.
The community thrives on diversity of perspectives. For example, you may be a patient or patient representative, a researcher, or a health professional.
What we share is a passion and commitment to improve health and care for all.
We commit to creating spaces for members, across settings, sectors, roles and hierarchies, to connect together.
Our shared charter
Our shared charter was co-designed with community members, to set out what members can expect of Q and vice versa. It shares how the community behaves and outlines the ways in which Q works with members. Our membership process asks you to agree to this as part of joining.
How to Join Q
Join by completing the membership form outlining a bit about yourself, your current connection to improvement, transformation or change in health and care, and your areas of interest.
You’ll need to create an account on the Q site and then complete an online membership form.
- It should take approximately 10 minutes to complete.
- You can download a plain text copy of the membership form to see the process.
- Q is free to join and there is no specific time commitment or deadline to apply.
- Your account allows you to access all the Q community spaces. From here you can connect with other members and join or start discussions.
Your welcome journey, and first steps as a Q member, will be sent to you within a couple of weeks.
