Peer learning, collaboration and events
Expert design and facilitation of collaboration events and support for peer learning.
We design and facilitate collaborative events, webinars, workshops, visits and groups where participants learn from each other and work through real challenges together.
Our sessions are carefully facilitated to encourage open discussion, shared problem‑solving and practical learning. We help participants build confidence, skills and ideas using simple, proven tools such as our Cross‑System Improvement Framework and Skills for Collaborative Change.
We combine inspiring speakers and practical case examples with purposeful interactive exercises so people leave with clear next steps they can use in their day‑to‑day work.
With ongoing intense financial and workforce pressures, we need to think radically about our approach to improving health and care.
We have been working in partnership for over 10 years with national improvement leaders from across the UK and Ireland. We’ve hosted a series of workshops focusing on the most pressing issues affecting health and care. This unique series created a confidential space to explore challenges, learn from each other and receive dedicated peer support around a shared topic.
By convening leaders around shared challenges, we created space for collaboration, mutual learning and system-wide improvement. This group has produced impressive, impactful work: showing how improvement boosts productivity, how we can embed it as mainstream business, and how large systems can learn more effectively.
2025 – 2026 Topic focus: Quality Management Systems
In 2025 – 2026 we focused a series of workshops on Quality Management Systems (QMS). Convening leaders from across the UK and Ireland, we designed this National Improvement Leaders programme to support learning, peer exchange and practical application of QMS approaches.
The programme reflected diverse national priorities: Scotland’s revised QMS framework, Wales’ Safe Care Partnership, Ireland’s early-stage development, Northern Ireland’s new ‘Quality approach’, and England’s emerging Quality Strategy.
Many improvement efforts depend on people working across teams, organisations and sectors. Yet the skills needed for effective collaboration are often unclear and undervalued. This creates a hidden barrier to progress and risks the success of system-wide projects.
We addressed this gap by working with health professionals to co-create a practical skills map that centres on collaboration. We drew on innovation and improvement experts’ experiences to identify the skills and attitudes needed for collaborative change. We then designed and tested a clear, accessible tool teams could use in practice.
The tool created a shared language for collaboration. Teams have used it to support reflection, learning and development, and it has provided teams with greater confidence and capability in leading change collaboratively.
It’s been really enjoyable meeting people from other systems and contexts, and top marks to the NHS Alliance team and Q for a successful course – well done.
