Q Online Visit: Embedding sustainability in QI
The Centre for Sustainable Healthcare and three Sustainability in QI Beacon Sites share how healthcare organisations are embedding sustainability into their QI practice.
About this Visit
Join this online Visit to hear how improvement specialists and health professionals across the UK are integrating sustainability into their QI training and practice.
The Centre for Sustainable Healthcare’s Sustainability in Quality Improvement team (SusQI) will be joined by three of the SusQI Beacon Sites: Cardiff and Vale University Health Board, Midlands Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, and South Warwickshire University NHS Foundation Trust.
Why the Centre for Sustainable Healthcare?
Healthcare faces increasingly complex challenges, with the climate and ecological crisis threatening to undermine decades of advancements and improvements in healthcare. Addressing these challenges while prioritising ambitious net zero targets is critical: improvements that enhance patient outcomes and experiences while ensuring services are equitable, resource-efficient, and environmentally and financially sustainable.
Since 2008, the Centre for Sustainable Healthcare has engaged healthcare professionals, patients, and the wider community to understand the connections between health and the natural environment and the importance to reduce healthcare’s resource footprint, offering strategic input and consultancy on sustainable healthcare research and practice.
The SusQI programme equips health professionals to innovate for a more sustainable health service. The programme provides practical tools and support to integrate sustainability into existing quality improvement teaching and practice, ensuring all healthcare staff gain the knowledge and skills required to deliver sustainable healthcare.
Cardiff and Vale University Health Board, Midlands Partnership Foundation Trust, and South Warwickshire University Foundation Trust are SusQI Beacon Sites, recognised for embedding sustainability across their QI training and practice.
