About this event
Psychological safety grows where your team builds rituals. Join the Joy in Work Curiosity Collective for an interactive 45-minute lunchtime session where we start to build some tangible tools for your workplace.
Using the 1–2‑4-All Liberating Structure you’ll work with peers to design, name and refine simple micro-rituals, for example ‘Half-baked Alerts!’ or ‘The Friday Flush’ to make it safe to ask ‘stupid’ questions and embrace continuous learning.
What you’ll learn
- How to design micro-rituals
- How to shift psychological safety from an abstract concept into everyday meeting practices
- A concrete ritual to test with your own team in your next team meeting
Who should attend?
This event is open to anyone interested in psychological safety and Joy in Work. It may be of particular interest to:
- Leaders, managers and anyone wanting to make regular staff meetings more open, psychologically safe, and collaborative.
- Culture, HR, and wellbeing leads.
- Frontline staff who want to work in an environment where asking questions and sharing unfinished ideas feels normal and safe.
Overview of the event
This will be a dynamic session combining solo reflection, pair work, and small group co-creation.
You’ll walk away with a collective voting process to choose a micro-ritual you can test in your next staff meeting.
Facilitators
Julia is on a mission to help NHS staff reduce stress and overwhelm and be happier at work. She has supported NHS teams and organisations with quality improvement at a national, regional, and local level for over 25 years. During this time she has seen the tension between staff wanting to do a great job and the challenges of working in difficult environments with too few staff. This has made her both sad and determined that things need to change. She was a member of the first cohort to complete the IHI training on Improving Joy in Work and has been training staff in this approach, along with others, within NHS teams ever since. In 2018 she set up the Q Community Improving Joy in Work Special Interest Group which now has nearly 400 members. She also regularly presents at NHS conferences and events on the subject of happiness at work and is an avid reader of anything related to this topic. Julia is Board Member for NESCHA (North East Social Care and Health Advisors) which aims to help influence and shape the quality of NHS services by ensuring the patient voice is heard. She is also educated to MBA level.
The Joy in Work Curiosity Collective
