Influencing for Impact

Join us on 13 May to learn practical ways to influence, connect, and make a real impact.

About this event

Being able to influence is essential in successful and impactful improvement work. Influencing is about shaping ideas, shifting mindsets and creating the conditions to deepen collaboration. We can use it to scale a brilliant idea, address a problem before it emerges, or guide a system in a new direction.

Join us for this session where we’ll explore how to influence. Bring an example of an individual or organisation you want to influence, local or national, and we’ll work through guided activities together. You’ll map what matters to them, and begin shaping an influencing approach to engage them. There will be an opportunity to test your ideas in the session with other participants.

What will you take away?

By the end of this session, you will:

  • Identify a key stakeholder and what drives them, including their priorities, motivations and the narratives that shape their decisions.
  • Work with others in the room to test and develop your thinking.
  • Develop an initial influencing approach for your chosen stakeholder, that feels authentic, purposeful and ready to test beyond the workshop.

Who should attend?

This session is designed for anyone who wants to strengthen their ability to influence, collaborate and work more effectively with others. It’s suitable for people in all roles regardless of your level of experience. If your work involves communicating ideas, gaining buy-in or navigating relationships, you’ll leave with some practical tips.

Event format

The session will begin with some theory and we’ll share a practical set of questions for you to work through to help you understand the person you want to influence. We’ll then move into small breakout groups, so you can reflect deeply with peers and receive constructive input in a focused, collaborative environment. You’ll leave the session with meaningful actions tailored to your situation and expertise.
