Improvement’s role in delivering the 10-year plan in England: A Q workshop with Paul Corrigan 

This workshop is your opportunity as a Q member to share how improvement approaches can support the ambition for change.

The Darzi review showed that major change with system-wide improvements is needed across the NHS. The 10-year plan for the NHS (2025–35) is scheduled to launch in spring 2025, focusing on the three ​‘big shifts’ that the Government want to see in response to the review’s findings:

• from hospital to community
• from sickness to prevention
• from analogue to digital

Q has been invited to draw on the expertise and experience within our community to explore the role improvement methods can play in these changes. This workshop will consider the broader role that improvement approaches and capabilities need to play in delivering the plan at all levels of the system. We’ll hear from Paul Corrigan, a senior advisor within the Department of Health and Social Care who is working closely with Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, Wes Streeting, to shape the plan.

The insight gathered from the workshop will be shared with the team leading the plan.

Paul will set out the current thinking on the plan from within the Department – including the sheer scale of change that will be needed. A panel of people working in improvement across the health and care sector will then reflect on the role of improvement approaches in meeting the goals that Paul has set out. The remainder of the workshop will provide a range of opportunities for you to discuss and input your own perspectives.
